What Zemanta Does
Zemanta brings related content to your blog in the form of blog posts and pictures from Flickr, Wikipedia Commons and other stock photo suppliers. Not only that, it will suggest links from keywords within your post and tags for the post.
What this means to you is less time searching and more time writing. Consider it a smart search engine that works while you type.
Then you just choose from what Zemanta suggests from the widget it adds to your blogging platform.
How to Get Zemanta
One of the easiest ways to get Zemanta is as a browser plugin, for either Firefox or Internet Explorer. The Firefox plugin also works for Flock. And you`re set. Login to any one of the following blogging platforms and Zemanta knows you`re there:
Wordpress
Blogger
TypePad
MoveableType
Tumblr
Drupal
MySpace
Ning
LiveJournal
Zemanta also plugs in to Windows Live Writer if you are the type of blogger that likes desktop applications. And if that was not enough, there are also plugins you can install in Wordpress, MovableType and Drupal.
And Zemanta puts a handy Reblog button at the bottom of your post, making it easier for a reader to refer to your post on their own blog.
And if you have a Amazon ID, you can add that to your account to automatically link to products with your affiliate url.
How It Got Better
When Zemanta first came out, there was no way to customize the content, links, pictures and tags that Zemanta suggested. You just took was suggested. You could hit the update button for new choices but that was about it.
That just changed. Now you can import your own Flickr account to add your personal photos, your MyBlogLog, Facebook and Twitter accounts to link to friends in your post and up to 160 of your own feeds to pull related links from.
Zemanta is definitely worth a try, because they aren`t done yet. If this is an example of what they can do in a few short months, I can`t wait to see what happens in the future.
